AS ONE OF AUSTRALIA'S OLDEST and best known viticultural and winemaking regions the Barossa provides the wine lover with an extensive experience of some 60 wineries. Renowned for its classic Shiraz, Penfold's Grange, and grand tradition of fortified wines - the Barossa is home to a unique food and wine culture that has been continuously evolving for the past 160 years.
When in the Barossa detours are encouraged to some of its famed local producers, such as the legendary Maggie Beer's Farm Shop on its idyllic dam-side location. An abundance of highly-regarded restaurants are to be found, whose focus is on local produce, such as freshwater yabbies, smoked meats and pickles.
