THE The Lower Hunter Valley, only a short three hour drive north of Sydney, is arguably the best-known wine region in Australia. Originally making its name for long living Chardonnay, Semillon and Shiraz, such as the Tyrrell's Vat 47 Chardonnay and Brokenwood Graveyard Shiraz, it now also produces a substantial amount of the trendier Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc varieties, mainly for the Sydney market.

The Hunter Valley is a large wine growing region with over 75 wineries in the area some dating back to the 1830's with over 10,000 acres under vine cultivation. Here you will see different building styles from the old to the new as we drive through the rolling countryside stopping at some smaller producers to larger vineyards such as Rosemount where your wine host will give you a private tasting of around 8-10 wines. With a small group your fellow tour members have a more memorable and personal experience. Each day we visit 5 wineries who will introduce you to their own unique wines where you can taste 5 or 6 wine at each location.





Another highlight of the day is when we take you to the Hunter Valley Cheese Company for a special private presentation of their traditional handmade cheeses. This 30 minute introduction compliments your day in the wineries. Later in the day when we have finished the wineries we will stop at the Hunter Valley Chocolate Factory for some tasting treats where there is a "huge assortment of all that is wicked." If you do not like chocolates then you can wander into Petersen's Champagne House next door to try something a little different.

On leaving the chocolate shop just sit back and relax and enjoy a movie on the return to Sydney, where we will have you on the Harbour Bridge around 6.00p.m.
