PETALUMA
Petaluma is a substantial winery group trading on the Australian stock exchange, which includes Knappstein Wines of Clare, Michelton Winery in Victoria's Goulburn Valley and Stonier's Winery in Victorias Mornington Peninsula as well as the wines under the Petaluma and Bridgewater Mill labels. The brilliant Brian Croser established Petaluma in 1976 at Piccadilly in the Adelaide Hills and is the main reason that Petaluma has been so successful.
Croser bought the old mill at Bridgewater in the Adelaide Hills in 1993 to cellar his methode champenoise and went on to establish the pre-eminent restaurant and cellar door in the Adelaide Hills. The principal wines at this cellar door are the Bridgewater Mill Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Millstone Shiraz. This restaurant complex is well worth a visit for anyone visiting the Adelaide Hills, whether it is for wine tasting, a casual coffee or a sumptuous meal.
To visit this winery, take the SOUTH AUSTRALIA - ADELAIDE HILLS/MCLAREN VALE/COONAWARRA tour.
